Sizing advice - measuring = knowing

Sizing advice: measuring = knowing

What a bummer! That pile of nice clothes turns out to be way too big, -sigh- the right size is already sold out, searching for a replacement item again...

If you are not yet familiar with a particular brand or our range, we would like to protect you from the 'beginner's' mistake:

❌ Peeking at the size label on your child's shirt... Ouch, ouch, ouch... that goes wrong 90% of the time!

There is a huge difference between brands, so your child is now wearing 110/116 from a large chain... you think: I'll choose 122/128 from Duns or Maxomorra or something like that, it turns out to be much too big and returning is around the corner (I would like to avoid that, so time-consuming & expensive for you but also for me)

If you really want to buy the right size:

✅ Measure your child from head to toe!

  1. body length
  2. head circumference
  3. foot length

No, it's not rocket science, but really... measuring = knowing (guessing = missing and gambling = paying 😉)

Necessary:

  • children),
  • pencil,
  • a4
  • book
  • soft measuring tape or string or similar
  • or tape measure or ruler
1. Body length:
  • bare feet,
  • heels against the wall,
  • book on the head,
  • line on the wall (bottom of book 😉)
  • and measure calmly when they rush away, because they don't stand still anyway.

2. Head circumference

  • around head, above ears (largest diameter)
  • no tape measure? Use a string, shoelace, or something flexible (your apron will do just fine 😂)
  • write it down on that piece of paper before you forget 😅

3. Foot length:

  • A4 sheet on the floor against the wall
  • bare foot (1 by 1) on that a4 sheet
  • heels against the wall
  • cross off at the big toe
  • measure the length of the longest foot (yes, they are always different, for everyone ;-))

VOILA - passed 🥳

Now you know the length = clothing size, head circumference = hat size and the foot length (see size chart for the boots!)

True to size – what is that?

With the products you can read how a brand or model fits. If nothing is stated, then it fits true to size: corresponding to the length and that means 128 fits well at 128 length and can be worn for a while. So you choose 128 if your child is almost 128. Always take the age into account. Tallest in the class? Indication that your child flies through the sizes (but you already knew that of course). Then you round up further.

Don't choose bigger

Some items are really big, that is, they still fit the next size: For example, Duns terry pants. Size 134 can be worn up to 140, for example. Do not choose these types of products for growth, that is really inconvenient for your child!

Rain boots - Thermal boots

For the rain & lined (thermal) boots from Enfant you will find a size chart matching the length in cm with the product. Choose a thermal boot 1 size larger because of the lining and somewhat thicker wool socks! (never cold feet again, outside all winter!)

Fun to do:

put the date of measurement on the wall/paper, so you can see in February how much they shot into the air 😃 (okay, there are people who don't cross off on their wall, but I always notice such walls at all my friends' homes 😂)
